Presents:
Copyright Law Update – Digital Issues
Friday, April 30, 2010
8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
Holiday Inn, Grantville, PA
This workshop is designed to provide library personnel with an update of the current status of the U.S. copyright law as it applies to digital works. The library exception, section 108 of the Copyright Act, has been amended in some ways to apply specifically to digital copying. Additionally, a number of recommendations have been made for further amendments to accommodate better current library practice as it applies to digital works. At the same time, publishers and other copyright owners are seeking to protect potential new markets for digital products, and this may clash with the expectations and desires of library personnel and library users. The Google Book Settlement has brought a number of these issues to the forefront.
