Support Staff Workshop 2009

A Tale of Two Capita/al$

A total of forty-seven support staff from more than half of the member libraries had an opportunity to network and discuss current trends in their libraries against a backdrop of the architecturally and artistically beautiful State Capitol and the finely curated National Civil War Museum.

Representatives from several libraries submitted written narratives of procedures and policies that had been implemented at their respective institutions to deal with the current economic downturn. Attendees discussed these and other strategies such as staff cross training; attrition; and, reducing bindery, print subscription and mailing costs. It was concluded that maintaining quality customer service remains a high priority at member libraries despite budget constraints.
